My Backyard, 13 Bonfires & 1 Karen
Last month I had 13 bonfires going in my backyard at the same time.
Apparently Karen called the fire department because that's "not okay."
There was no burn ban, but the fires were too close to the property line.
The ENTIRE fire department showed up, sirens blazing, and proceeded to extinguish them all.
I felt angry at Karen, and extremely apologetic towards the fire department. They were very kind, and were thrilled to actually put out a fire for once.
We gave them a few dozen homemade cookie bars.
I was burning dead limbs on my acreage and it was all under control (I'm a former boy scout dropout).
I had to either pay a $332 fine at the courthouse or appear in court. Apparently this was a big deal.
I paid the fine, and $332 is 70% cheaper than what I was quoted to clear my limbs.
It's a net win, as far as I'm concerned.
I laughingly told this story to my friend @ShannonJean, knowing him to be somewhat of a rule-breaker himself, and he got a kick out of it.
Today I got a Solo Stove in the mail from him, as a kind gesture. My kids enjoyed what he addressed me as.
"Dad, that's inappropriate!" said my 8 year old 😂
Today I'm grateful for good friends and net wins.
